From Darkness, Light
46 x 29 x 17 — Copper, Teak, Wenge
Raven, mythologized the world over for its intelligence and impish ways, holds a prominent place in Northwest lore. Native American myth describes this creature of darkness stealing the light, that humans might find wisdom. This close up view of raven's thievery is supported by a construction of birdlike legs with shelf. There could be no more perfect wood for raven feathers than African Wenge veneer. The copper, the color of sun as it breaks over the horizon, glows. We in the northwest have a particular appreciation for our sometimes rare sunlight: may the raven bring light to your days.
