The fern like curl of the feet called for a simple graphic: the diagonal in the doors. An extensive veneer search brought me to Larch with it's soft linear quality, reminiscence of hikes on Washington’s Eastern slopes.

In this box full of movement, a school of fish swim and part as they move towards you. Some fish hover, apparently motionless. The sea urchin pulls and star burst pattern of figured ash veneer on the top round out the picture.

The tricky drawers and removeable panels to accommodate a stereo system and CD storage provided a starting point for a collaborative design process involving wide bookmatched  Bubinga panels and playful graphic elements.

Frames of wire brushed Wenge and panels of Bubinga veneer provide a discrete home for a TV. When lowered, the TV disappears, leaving a raised display shelf.

“It’s all about vine. For a number of ears, in the spring wondered how I might incorporate the squarish, pin wheeling flowers of the Vinca vine into a piece of furniture. One February, as the flowers were coming into bloom, amidst grease-stained drawings spread across the kitchen table, the vine-like detailing on legs and trim emerged."

This expressive bookcase sports a harlequin veneer pattern in highly figured maple and pommelle sapele. Nepalese beads adorn the jester's hat.

Eucalyptus provides a watery background for tranquil drifting kelp with a bold salmon swimming through. The watery world and wood grained texture provide a fine cover for the technology of our lives.
